| The Wedding Brigade - Thaddeus |
There’s a crew on the farm today. But they’re not picking strawberries or packing asparagus for your boxes. They’re cleaning, scrubbing, planting flowers and making sure that everything is just right for the Big Day— Carol and Freeman’s wedding— happening next Saturday on the farm. Extended family members are here, working in the garden and in the patio area, as well as around the packing sheds. The whole affair of the wedding has really forced us to clean things up around the farm, which is great. Sometimes all it takes is one important date to really motivate folks.
The unexpected rain this week was welcome. Even after the wet weather we had earlier this year, the soil dried up quickly. Yesterday, Moyra and I walked around the farm. In addition to admiring the quail, turkeys, rabbits and other wildlife (all of which Bear attempted to chase), we also admired the new shoots of asparagus and the flowering tomato plants. The asparagus has thin stalks, just peaking above the ground. They’re a healthy, bright green. The young plants look great. The tomatoes are fragrant. I like how the plants and the space around the plants smell like the stuff we actually bite into. I’m looking forward to fresh tomato salads and homemade tomato sauces. Give me a couple of vine ripened heirloom tomatoes, a bit of olive oil, a grind of pepper, a dash of salt…and I’m one happy camper.
That said, I look forward to using the beautified garden this summer for the whole gamut of activities that await us: barbecues, farm tours, lazy Sunday afternoons reading in the shade, picnics…

Customer Work Day Update
Our next "work day" in the city will be held on Sunday, April 30th. Join us for the Grand Opening of our new retail location in the SF Ferry Building!
Festivities begin at 3pm.
Please email: noah@farmfreshtoyou.com to
reserve space for you, family and friends.
Plan on
arriving at the farm early in the morning, as close to 8am
as possible, and bringing a lunch
to enjoy out in the orchard.
We'll plan on wrapping things up around noon due to the heat,
and you'll be free to relax in the shade of the trees and
have lunch afterward.
