About the producer
Emily Winston grew up in central New Jersey eating bagels regularly, but the ones that stuck with her came from Manhattan's Upper West Side, where her father would stop during business trips. Those bagels felt different; they were uniquely satisfying in a way she couldn't replicate once she moved to the Bay Area in California. When her favorite bagel shop shut down, she spent five years trying to recreate them through trial and error in her own kitchen. Her use of organic ingredients was a non-negotiable in her recipe development.
After landing on a recipe she was happy with, Emily started selling bagels at pop-ups and the response was strong enough that she opened her first brick-and-mortar shop in Berkeley, Calif. Boichik bagels are her attempt to preserve what she loved about at bagel shop in the Upper West Side, adapted for a different place and time.
