About the producer
Divine Chocolate is driven by a mission to help improve the cocoa industry, challenging the terms of world trade and advocating that farmers should be sustainably paid and have a voice and say in their future.
Their business model reflects this, with shareholder Kuapa Kokoo Farmers’ Union, a co-operative of 100,000 cocoa farmers in Ghana, having 40% representation on the Divine board, a guaranteed minimum price for their cocoa, and receiving a share of the distributable profits.
In addition, for over 20 years Divine Chocolate and their farmer co-op partners have shared a commitment to empowering women. Together, they support women in cocoa farming so they may develop the skills and confidence to grow better cocoa, build better communities, and thrive in business. More than a third of Kuapa Kokoo farmers are women.
