Devil's Gulch Devilishly good, organic bloomy-rind cheese with dried peppers. This award winning cheese is made with organic, locally-sourced milk, and is named after the narrow ravine carved along the base of Mt. Barnabe in West Marin. Devil’s Gulch gets a fiery kick from vibrant and warming pepper flakes that beautifully contrast with the buttery notes of this cheese.
About the producer
Friends Sue Conley and Peggy Smith founded Cowgirl Creamery after both having pursued careers in some of San Francisco’s most famous kitchens: Peggy spending 17 years at Chez Panisse, and Sue co-owning Bette’s Oceanview Diner in Berkeley. Their first location, a renovated hay barn in downtown Point Reyes, featured a small cheesemaking room. Using milk from neighboring Straus Family Creamery, they began making delicious fresh cheeses to sell at Farmers Markets, local restaurants and eventually their own retail stores and cafes. Today, Cowgirl Creamery continues the tradition, selling their acclaimed cheeses across the country and continuing to support local nonprofit and agricultural organizations.
