When Jai complained that healthy snacks never satisfied his cravings, his mother, Asha, listened with the patience only a mother knows. Born and raised in India, she remembered the simple pleasure of popped water lily seeds from her own childhood, flavored with spices that had nourished her family for generations. In her Los Angeles kitchen, Asha began experimenting with these ancient makhana seeds, adding her own blend of turmeric, garlic, and chili.
Her first batches disappeared quickly around the family table. Even her toddler granddaughter would shuffle over, tiny hands reaching up for more of what she called "Nani's pops." Asha's distinct flavors transformed something her own grandmother had made into snacks that satisfied her entire family.
